Get Involved

Ever wanted to do more locally? There are a number of ways you can get involved in the local community:

King's Park Ward Forum: Each ward in Hackney has its own ward forum which is run by local Councillors and residents as a way to improve the local area together. These meet every three months, and all residents are welcome. At recent meetings we have discussed the our plans to improve our parks, housing, parking and helped organise a community fun day. To find out when the next meeting is, there is more information here.

Community Advisory Panel meetings: these are meeting where local residents set the priorities of the local Safer Neighbourhood Team in our area. The meetings are approximately every two months and are held in the Pedro youth club. You can contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team on 020 8721 2939 or check for the next meeting date here.

Becoming a Hackney School Governor: The Learning Trust, which runs Hackney schools, is always looking out for people to be Local Education Authority Governors at schools. For more information and an application pack, call 020 8820 7369 or download one here.

Joining the local Labour Party in Hackney: We meet once a month in King's Park ward. We have guest speakers on local issues and updates from your local councillors. Being a member of the Labour Party is a way to get involved locally and meet your fellow neighbours, and to help change things for the better in Hackney. Contact us on kingspark@hackney-labour.org.uk for more information on getting involved, join online here and find out about what the Labour Party does in Hackney here.
