About King's Park

King’s Park lies to the east of Hackney, covering the area between HackneyMarshes (the largest expanse of parkland in Hackney and the home of Sunday league football) to the East and ChatsworthRoad to the West; Mabley Green to the South and Millfields Park to the North. It is one of 21 wards in the London Borough of Hackney. You can see a map of the new wards here.


King’s Park ward includes the Clapton Park, Millfields, Nye Bevan, Kingsmead, Linzell and Sherry’s Wharf estates, along with street properties of Homerton and Chatsworth Road, Brooksby’s Walk and new buildings along the River Lee Navigation. 

At the time of the 2011 census King's Park was home to over 12,000 people. Amongst this population it has a greater proportion of children under 19 than Hackney as a whole. There are three primary schools in King’s Park – Daubeney, Kingsmead, and Mandeville. It also has a wide range of other provision for children and young people including the Daubeney Children’s Centre; the Hackney Marshes Adventure Playground; the Pedro youth club; and the Concorde Youth Centre.

King’s Park prides itself on its green public spaces. Alongside it’s award winning parks – Daubeney Fields, Millfields, and the Marshes – residents have undertaken growing projects across the ward developing numerous community gardens and vegetable patches. The Clapton Park Tenant Management Association (covering Clapton Park, Millfields and Nye Bevan) is famed for creating the “Poppy Estate”.
